Themed as Museum-School Cooperation. Science Education Towards the New Era, the 10th Forum on Museum-School Cooperation. Science Education was held in Suzhou city during October 27-28, 2018 .The paramount aim of such event was to further increase science education quality under the new era through Museum-School Cooperation and inspire school teachers and students to discover and explore the unknown. Approximately 150 participants from research institutes, schools, and science museums showed their presence. The forum was hosted by CRISP, and co-hosted by Suzhou Science & Technology Museum for Youth. Wang Kangyou, General director of CRISP attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech; Cheng Bo, President of Suzhou Association for Science and Technology Association, presented a welcome speech.
The points of Wang Kangyou's remarks were epitomized as follows: science and technology plays a crucial role in shaping a county's strength and future; talent cultivation is a key in boosting national strength in science and technology; quality science education underpins talent cultivation in an all-round way; Museum-School Cooperation serves as an effective and significant way to bolster science education quality; and CRISP is firmly believing that cultivating high-quality talents can be made by tapping the combined role of science museum and school.
150 papers were submitted to the forum where 89 papers were ultimately included into the conference proceeding after the experts' review. The forum continued its form in the 9th forum. October 27 was available for the academic report during the whole day where a number of experts, practitioners and researchers exchanged notes about the promotion of science education. 7 renowned experts in the field made their respective presentations involving the latest development in science education, the practical experience in Museum-School Cooperation, and the fine cases of how to utilize resources in science museums by schools, etc.
Statistics show that 9 consecutive forums have been held up to date. The forum has become one of the 2 brand-name academic events held by CRISP. With a focus on science education practice in science museum through theoretical and empirical studies, the forum aims to actively contribute a part to the improvement of science literacy for the youth.
