Seminar on a Summary and Review of Project “Studies on Disciplinary Science Writing Theory and Practice” Held

The seminar on a summary and review of project “Studies on Disciplinary Science Writing Theory and Practice”, and the mid-term discussion on the ongoing project, were conducted by CRSIP on Mar, 9th, 2018. Some experts and research teams from Tsinghua University, University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing Normal University, China Science and Technology Museum, China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences, and Science Press were present. The seminar was chaired by CHEN Ling, the senior research fellow and the division head for science writing, CRISP.
The project “Studies on Disciplinary Science Writing Theory and Practice” took shape at the end of 2016, which had conducted studies on science writing history of such 3 disciplines as Physics, Chemistry, and Astronomy. The studies on science writing history of traditional Chinese medicine science was initiated in 2017 for the project. The studies on science writing history of Physics, Chemistry, and Astronomy has been basically completed up to date, where it detailed a study on science writing stages, and features of representative science books. The catalogues of science books for the respective disciplines collected during the project provide reference and guidance for the research fellows, professionals, and others who showcase interest in science communication and science writing.
 The participants compared notes for the improvement of the project and its publications, anticipating that the research yields will be more conducive to the research fellows and the public.
