The 1st batch of academic achievements of "the Enhancement of Civic Scientific Literacy" by China Research Institute for Science Popularization (CRISP) were released in Beijing on 7th, June, 2018, where Wang Kangyou (Director general of CRISP) made some remarks.
The World Conference on Science Literacy is planned to be held in Beijing in September, 2018. By taking the lead in organizing the academic affairs of the impending conference, CRISP released the latest achievements in the field of science popularization prior to the conference. Such move is instrumental in making the conference influential far and wide.
Four major achievements were pronounced during the release, which centered around the theme "Civic Scientific Literacy". Among them, "China Science Popularization Data Report in 2017" and "Science· Parallel in 2018" will be published in due course in the future. In addition, 2 other achievements including "China Science Popularization Industry Development Report" were announced as well.
In today's world, such frontier information as big data and artificial intelligence, etc, is widely applied across nearly all sectors. "Internet plus Science Popularization" has become an inevitable trend for transforming and upgrading science popularization. The collection and analysis of science popularization data by internet provides a more scientifically optimized basis for decision-making regarding meeting the public's needs for science popularization and making science popularization precisely targeted. The public's needs for science popularization are closely linked with the development of science popularization industry, and how to make the non-profit science popularization enterprise align with the market-driven science popularization industry is a new challenge facing science popularization development, as well as an important issue worth an in-depth thinking from science researchers and practitioners.
In compliance with some knowledge, CRISP will hold 2 release meetings on academic achievements respectively in July and September this year, where more achievements will be made known to the public.
