Macau Association for the Advancement of Science and Technology and University of Macau Visit China Research Institute for Science Popularization for a Collaborative Meeting

On April 19, Mr. Shao Hanbin, President of the Macau Association for the Advancement of Science and Technology, Director of the Macau Science Center, and Vice Chairman of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area Science Museum Alliance, along with Professor Tam Kam Wing from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Macau's Faculty of Science and Technology, visited the China Research Institute for Science Popularization (CRISP) for a collaborative meeting. The meeting was attended by Ms. Hu Fumei, Deputy Secretary of CRISP’s Party Committee and Secretary of its Discipline Inspection Commission, as well as Ms. Zhang Lijie, Deputy Director of CRISP, among other participants.

The two sides engaged in thorough discussions on topics including the China Civic Scientific Literacy Survey, international cooperation and exchange in science popularization, performance evaluation of science museums, and talent development in science popularization.

Ms. Hu Fumei provided an overview of CRISP's work and key initiatives, highlighting long-term projects such as the China Civic Scientific Literacy Survey, the establishment of the World Organization for Public Science Literacy, and talent development programs in science popularization. She expressed gratitude to the Macau Association for the Advancement of Science and Technology and the University of Macau for their active participation and strong support in building the World Organization for Public Scientific Literacy. Hu also shared her hopes for strengthening future collaborations.

Mr. Shao Hanbin praised CRISP's research and surveys on public scientific literacy, international exchanges and cooperation in science popularization, and talent development efforts. He indicated that Macau would actively promote civic scientific literacy surveys and performance evaluations of science museums in the region.

Participants also explored leveraging Macau's unique advantages to jointly promote science popularization exchanges and collaborations with Portuguese-speaking countries, reaching several significant agreements during their discussions.
